Catherine Adams, MS, LPC, CPCS is the owner and lead therapist at ACFS.  She is a graduate of University of West Alabama with a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology. She has experience empowering adults, children and families as an outpatient therapist in private practice. She has worked with CORE agencies, as well as conducting individual and family therapy with non-profit residential programs.  Catherine has over twenty years of experience in counseling and community-based programs working with individuals and their families in foster care, child protective services, juvenile justice systems, domestic violence shelters, disability determination, and other community and state programs.  Catherine has a particularly broad experience in treating adults with both mental health and substance use issues. Catherine’s other areas of specialty include treating anxiety, depression, women's emotional health, family therapy, trauma treatment, adolescent behavior issues, and substance abuse/dependence. Catherine is highly effective working with adults as well as children and enjoys engaging people in the process of positive change.

Life's struggles can be overwhelming and challenging. Our goal is to provide you with practical solutions and tools you can apply in all aspects of your life. As a client, we will begin services where you are, while assisting you in identifying healthy solutions to your problems. It is our belief that most people have the ability to grow and build on their own strengths; however, at times, need empowerment and encouragement. Therapy is a collaborative process and we will assist you to learn, grow, and make positive changes that can result in a more fulfilling life.
